Online Course

  • Medical administrative assistants (also called medical office assistants or medical secretaries) are critical in keeping healthcare offices running smoothly, and also play an important role in the patient experience. Tasks vary by setting, but may include:  

    • Reviewing and answering practice correspondence  

    • Operating computer systems to accomplish office tasks  

    • Answering calls and scheduling appointments  

    • Greeting patients and updating electronic medical records  

    • Updating and maintaining patient and other practice-specific information  

    • Coordinating operation reports such as time and attendance  

    • Operating office software and equipment 

    This is a self-paced online course during which you will have 5 months to complete all of the coursework.

  • This is a part-time course that lasts a total of 215 hours and is strictly online.

    Students should spend 10 - 15 hours per week studying and doing online coursework.

    You will have a total of 5 months from your date of enrollment confirmation to complete all of the online coursework.

  • For private pay students (paying tuition out-of-pocket), this course can be started as soon as your balance is paid and your enrollment approved.

    Students sponsored by one of our community partners: DCF, Workforce, City of Wichita, Facility sponsors, or other funding sources are exempt from this. Each sponsor will be invoiced accordingly. Students will be given the opportunity to select this payment type when completing the online enrollment form and can start within 48-hrs of approved enrollment.
