1. Welcome Message

1.1 Mission Statement

At Allied Health Career Training, our mission is to provide quality education at an affordable price.

1.2 Values

Our values include a commitment to excellence, inclusive behavior, and a supportive learning environment.

2. Introduction to Allied Health Career Training

2.1 History

Allied Health Career Training was founded in 2011 with a vision to make quality education accessible to all. Found by Dianne Powell in old town Wichita, with only $5,000 we pride ourselves on being a small family-owned business for more than a decade. Since our founding we have taught more than 30,000 students across Kansas and Colorado.

2.2 Organizational Structure

Allied Health Career Training is owned and operated by Dianne Powell and Connor Powell. Dianne Powell operates as the Director of Education and Connor Powell operates as the CEO. With less than 15 employees, we value a flat management structure where the only manager or supervisor that any one employee has is Dianne or Connor.

4. Roles and Responsibilities

4.1 Instructor Responsibilities

Instructors play a crucial role in delivering quality education and fostering a positive learning environment. It is vital that they display core leadership values such as respect, commitment, understanding, kindness and initiative.

4.2 Professionalism

Maintain professionalism in all interactions, reflecting the high standards of Allied Health Career Training.

4.3 Communication Guidelines

Open and transparent communication is encouraged to facilitate collaboration and understanding.

5. Compensation and Benefits

5.1 Pay Structure

Allied health Career Training runs payroll every other week. There are 26 pay periods in a year. Total full time employment hours should be 2,080. For hourly compensated employees, you must report your hours worked for that pay period by no later than 11:00 AM on the Tuesday of payroll week. The pay period starts Wednesday and goes through the second following Tuesday.

5.2 Benefits Overview

Allied offers up to 3% of total salary match on retirement fund contributions. We also offer pretax deductions towards supplemental insurance benefits.

6. Professional Development

6.1 Training Opportunities

Allied sometimes offers professional development training in IT, leadership, or credential opportunities. These opportunities are offered on a case-by-case basis.

6.2 Continuing Education Support

Support for instructors seeking additional certifications or degrees.

6.3 Performance Reviews

Random performance reviews may be done by Allied management.

7. Classroom Management

7.1 Lesson Planning

All allied instructors should assist with the development and maintenance of curriculum. It is our goal as an institution to provide the highest quality training possible.

7.2 Classroom Environment

Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that is engaging and hands on.

7.3 Student Engagement

Encouraging active participation and engagement in the learning process.

8. Technology and Resources

8.1 Use of Company Resources

If ever provided access to an Allied credit card, it is appropriate to inform management before making purchases that are larger than $100. If provided equipment such as a laptop, it is important to be responsible and handle with care.

8.2 Technology Guidelines

Allied embraces new technologies in education. If there is ever any opportunity to advance the learning experience with the use of new technologies, we will do our best to incorporate them into the classroom. All Allied staff have access to an in-house Information Technologist. If you have concerns or questions about the use of our equipment or software, please request assistance.  The us of Allied technology for illegal or criminal activities violates terms of employment and may result in legal action.

8.3 Intellectual Property

Any content, course work, or strategies developed by an Allied employee or contractor is considered property of Allied Health Career Training. The sharing or disclosure there of violates the conditions of employment and can result in legal action.

o   Calmly exit through front of building

o   Calmly make your way to the basement of the building

o   Evaluate for the need of Basic Life support

o   Contact connor or Dianne ( how? Does everyone know my number? Should we have an emergency button that pages me, My contact number on the emergency procedures list in classroom

Active Shooter/ Workplace Violence

An active shooter/ hostile intruder is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area by any means including but not limited to firearms (most frequently used), bladed weapons, vehicles, or any tool that in the circumstance in which it is used constitutes deadly physical force. In most cases, there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims. Most active shooter situations are unpredictable, evolve quickly, and are over within minutes.

 

ACTION GUIDELINES

·         EVACUATE – Run: If there is an accessible escape path, attempt to evacuate the premises. Be sure to:

·         Have an escape route and plan in mind.

·         Evacuate regardless of whether others agree to follow.

·         Leave your belongings behind.

·         Help others evacuate, if possible.

·         Call 911 when you are safe.

·         Prevent individuals from entering an area where the active shooter may be.

·         Keep your hands visible.

·         Follow the instructions of any police officers.

·         Do not attempt to move wounded people.

 

·         SHELTER-IN-PLACE – Hide: If evacuation is not possible, find a place to hide where the active shooter is less likely to find you. Your hiding place should:

·         Be out of the active shooter’s view.

·         Provide protection if shots are fired in your direction (i.e. an office with a closed and locked door).

·         Not trap you or restrict your options for movement.

·         To prevent an active shooter from entering your hiding place:

·         Lock the door.

·         Blockade the door with heavy furniture.

·         If the active shooter is nearby:

·         Lock the door.

·         Silence your cell phone and/or pager.

·         Turn off any source of noise (i.e. radio, television).

·         Hide behind large items (i.e. cabinets, desks).

·         Remain quiet.

·         PROTECT YOURSELF – Fight: As a last resort, and only when your life is in imminent danger, attempt to disrupt and/or incapacitate the active shooter by:

·         Acting as aggressively as possible against him/her.

·         Throwing items and improvising weapons.

·         Yelling.

·         Committing to your actions.

·         WHEN POLICE ARRIVE

·         Put down any items in your hands.

·         Keep hands visible.

·         Follow all instructions.

·         Avoid making quick movements towards officers.

·         Do not stop to ask officers for help or direction when evacuating, just proceed in the direction from which officers are entering the premises.

9.2 Reporting Safety Concerns

If you at any time have concerns about your or someone else’s safety, if deemed appropriate, please contact emergency services at 911. If emergency services are not necessary, please immediately contact Allied management for assistance or guidance.

9.3 Health and Wellness

We want to support the health and wellness of our staff and are open to comments and feedback on how we can improve our working environment.

10. Student Relations

10.1 Student Interaction

Maintain respectful, positive student-teacher interactions. Foster open communication, encourage active participation, and prioritize a safe and inclusive learning environment, adhering to ethical and professional conduct at all times.

10.2 Conflict Resolution

Address conflicts between teachers and students with empathy and open communication. Listen actively to understand concerns, find common ground, and collaborate on solutions. Prioritize student well-being, but also stand your ground as it pertains to your own personal boundaries. Please inform Allied management of any notable conflicts between students or students and staff.

10.3 Confidentiality

The importance of maintaining confidentiality with student information. It is vital that you keep any personal information that is shared with you about a student to yourself or if deemed necessary, share only with Allied management. It is not okay to share personal information about students with anyone other than Allied management.

11. Leave of Absence and Time Off

11.1 Requesting Time Off

Please request time off via our PTO request form which can be found in teams. Excluding emergencies all time off requests must be turned in at least 14 days prior to the date requested. All employees accrue paid time off of .04 hours per hour worked. Approval of time off is at the discretion of the CEO.

11.2 Sick Leave

Allied Health Career Training offers 32 hours of unpaid sick leave for all staff per calendar year. Additional leave may be granted but this is at the discretion of the CEO.

11.3 Family and Medical Leave

Allied Health Career Training offers 8 hours of unpaid Family and Medical Leave for all staff per calendar year. Additional leave may be granted but this is at the discretion of the CEO.

12. Termination and Resignation

12.1 Notice Period

We at allied provide a two week notice followed by two weeks severance pay when terminating a full time employee. We wish to receive similar courtesy in return when considering resignation.

12.2 Exit Interviews

We offer an opportunity to be interviewed upon resignation or Termination. We are committed to improving our company and our culture and we start by building an opportunity to listen.

12.3 Return of Company Property

Upon termination or resignation, all allied staff of contractors must return all property owned by Allied and halt all use of Allied software, platforms, or equipment. Equipment should be returned with 14 days of resignation or termination.
