This course is designed to assist nurses with understanding the importance of regular foot care and how it impacts quality of life and total well-being. This program will provide education on proper soaps, lotions, natural remedies for fungus, corns and callouses  and proper shoe fittings. Discussion will include the importance of foot care services provided by a trainer professional and foot care in relevance to touch and comfort as a healing measure.

Objectives

  • Identify two common foot problems due to normal wear and tear of feet
  • Name two recommended soaps and two soaps to avoid
  • Identify three natural remedies for treating corns and callouses and fungal nails
  • Identify two ways to prevent or minimize fungal growth of toenails
  • Name two ways foot care is a comfort measure
